I planned a grand adventure on the bike. Searching for Vril in the hills of Laguna. I made an early start and traversed many miles through steep canyons and spectacular bluffs.
I hear a crunch and pop under the tire. I dismount to inspect the bike.
The rear tire is punctured with what looks like a massive seed pod.
Oh no. I’m so far from home. What am I to do?
Without hesitation I start to walk the bike down Alicia Parkway towards the rivulet I know leads to the coast.
It’s going to be a long walk. I stop at a gas station in hopes of securing a tire patch kit. The man there was extremely gracious. He reset the bead on the tire and put air in it, but it went flat again in two seconds.
I begin my long and arduous walk with the bike. Past the Waldorf, Ritz, and Niguel. Everything glistening in the Southern California sun.
I finally reach familiar territory and stop for water and provisions. I buy two waters, two packages of trail mix, a cliff bar, one apple, and a delicious caffeinated chocolate protein drink. I wolf them down and contemplate my walk.
I decide to lock the bike up and continue alone. Planning to recover the e-bike with my truck.
I walk through the park, past baseball fields of the greenest grass, along the rivulet that leads to the sea. Through a camp ground, down the board walk, atop a sea wall. And finally make it home.
I rehydrate with a glass of water, hop in my badass box truck, and drive several miles to recover my e-bike.
Look at this stick in my tire!!!
New tires on order.
In America, we can order ANYTHING from China, and it will arrive at our door in four days or less.
GOD BLESS.
