A Floating City by Jules Verne Book Review

Jules Verne is the perfect palate cleanser. The last book I read was heavy like mercury on the brain. A sullen feeling of blues and depression setting me adrift on a slate gray sea.

I began several deep novels before my good senses got the better of me. I landed on Jules Verne.

The hint of a smile on my withered face. The beginning of a genuine smirk as I take in the virginal adventure. Thanks Jules Verne. I love you. Even though you’re a Frenchman. lol 🙂

A wonderful reward of synchronicity, I find the book to be about The Great Eastern, a massive steam ship engineered by Brunel, a book I’ve already enjoyed.

Jules Verne makes it come alive. We board the mighty vessel, find old acquaintances, witness a love triangle, a shipwreck, a cyclone, New York Harbor, Niagara Falls. You can’t do it better than Jules Verne.

And now my palate is cleansed. The blues have turned violet. I begin the next tome on my quest to decode this nightmare reality.
