We arrive at our mountain chalet before sundown.
A bottle of wine in the foyer, dark red cherries in a stained glass bowl.
I unpack the vehicle and begin to gather wood for a fire.
Dried pine straw for kindling.
I see you walk into the den. Your robes flowing like a blue phaery.
Well cured ash and hickory are stacked neatly beside the mantle.
I place a few timbers over the pine kindling.
You enter with two glasses of wine.
I strike a match. We watch the flame in fascination.
Crackling and burning of straw, the fire begins to breathe.
Higher and higher the amber flames lick against the stone mantle.
Your silhouette dances with the light.
Cream colored curves curated by God.
The moon peaks its way through the balcony windows.
Your body illuminated by fire and silver moonbeams.
