I like to take a walk around noon. Get my steps in. Release the tension, forget my worries, let go of unwanted energies. Try to forget my lost loves and missed connexions.
It was a nice day for a walk. Slight breeze, not too humid. I’m walking the trail, I try to slow my ramble to a leisurely gambol. Letting time go, feel the past recede. Get into the now, I’m not trying to hurry along.
All of a sudden a great whelping is heard. From the trees ahead, like a bird in a tizzy, a high pitched scream, agitation, alarm.
“Wheee, wheee, wheee.”
I stop to triangulate the position. Squirrel hunting is mostly listening, and then aiming. By the way, GOD MADE THE SQUIRREL FOR TARGET PRACTICE, but I digress.
The horrible whelping is about 33 yards ahead. Just then, a thump on the ground, dead weight hitting the forest floor. I see the object as it settles in the pine needles.
I walk closer to FIND A SNAKE GULPING DOWN A SQUIRREL! Wow!
Run back to cabin for tracking device black mirror scrying screen.
Record FEAST OF THE SERPENT.
I’m not the only one hunting squirrels out here!
